Sumter's Liberty STEAM Charter School wrapped up its second-annual STEAM Workforce Development Day, a series of events in three days spread out over two months to intentionally introduce the community’s local workforce development needs to the scholars at both campuses through project-based learning. This year, there were 32 business partners. On day one, a partner meets class and learns about the project, on day two the partner and teachers teach the project together and introduce the company, and on day three, each class gives their pitch of what they learned and how they solved the problem.
For the Elementary Academy, the winners of the Capstone presentations were:
Second grade: Taking Action in Texas with SAFE Federal Credit Union
Third grade: Calculating in Costa Rica with Rival Design Build
