Lillian Emma Washington, 91, died peacefully at home on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2020, in Sumter.

She was born on Oct. 1, 1929, in Sumter, to the late Cole Sr. and Daisy Wright Washington. She received her education in the public schools of Sumter County. Early in life, she joined Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully in many capacities to include the missionary, usher, pulpit and choirs ministries. She also worshiped at Cornerstone Household of Faith. She was a member of United Order of Elizabeth Tents Number 57.

She is survived by five children, Elizabeth (Raymond) Brunson, Lorraine (Anthony) Dennis, Lillian (Charles) Thompson and Leverne Washington, all of Sumter, and Graley (Sherry) Washington of Jacksonville, Florida; seven grandchildren, Rosamond, Yolanda, Charles Jr., Asiah, Cameron, Grayson and Mikaylia; four great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; five sisters, Theodosia Washington, Frances Mack, Betty Lou Burch, Ruth Jackson and Naomi (James) White; a brother, Lindsay Washington; sister-in-law: Lula Washington; and a multitude of other relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. today at Kingdom Builders Deliverance Ministry, 621 W. Liberty St., Sumter.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday at Hillside Memorial Park, 2561 Cains Mill Road, Sumter, SC 29154 with the Rev. James Blassingame and Pastor Charles Thompson.
