LINDA P. COKER

Linda P. Coker, 81, widow of Bobby Earl Coker, died on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at her home.

Born on May 20, 1939, in Florence County, she was a daughter of the late Edward Clifton Pitts and Ruth Schuyler Barrett. Mrs. Coker retired from the Sumter County Sheriff's Office after 28 years of service. She was the 2003 recipient of the YMCA Twin Award for Women in Industry who have excelled in their business profession. She was civilian employee of the year in 1988 with the Sheriff's Office and she received an award from Gov. Sanford for 28 years of outstanding service with the state. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Michell Copeland (Will); two sons, Robert Earl Coker Sr. (Julie) and Mike Coker; a brother, Donald Wade (Becky) of Covington, Georgia; grandsons, Robert William Coker (Markie), Robert Earl Coker Jr. and William Wylie Coker; and great-grandchildren, Harper and Landon Coker.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Eugene Mosier officiating.

The family will receive friends at the home.
