LIZZIE LEE ARCHIE JACKSON
Lizzie Lee Archie Jackson, 86, was called to eternal rest on Saturday evening, Aug. 17, 2019, at Primsa Health Tuomey Hospital.
Born July 4, 1933, in Lee County, she was a daughter of the late Jessie and Rosa Gamble Archie. At an early age in life, she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and joined the Bethel AME Church, Sumter. After getting married and moving to Sumter, she joined Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, Dalzell, where she was very active until her health declined. She served faithfully as a member of the board of deacons, Presbyterian Women's Organization, senior choir, the McKiever Club and other capacities wherever she was needed. Well done, thy good and faithful servant. She received her formal education from the public schools of Lee County. She was a private sitter for many years, until her retirement.
Lizzie met the love of her life and married the late Elder Ryttenburg Otto Jackson. This union was blessed with six children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elder Ryttenburg Jackson; all of her siblings; two daughters, Cora Lee Archie and Jewell Elaine Jackson; one son, the Rev. Dr. Ernest Jackson; one grandson, Sean Randall Smith; and one great-grandson, Kyishawn Karl Archie.
She leaves to cherish her memory: three daughters, Jannette Spencer, Bernice (Randolph) Smith and Edith V. "Gail" Jackson, all of Sumter; five grandchildren she raised as her own, Kim Rene Archie of Sumter, Lashawnda Hope Richardson of Durham, North Carolina, James Whitfield Jackson and Thomas Otto Jackson, both of Sumter, and Shante' Charmaine Jackson of Columbia; one nephew, George Anthony of Baltimore; 14 other grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; special cousins, the Roman family; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family is receiving relatives and friends at her home, 1165 Peppercorn Lane, Sumter.
Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church (USA), 4620 Queen Chapel Road, Dalzell, with the Rev. Carnell Hampton, moderator, eulogist.
The remains will be placed in the church at 11 a.m.
The funeral procession will leave at 11:20 a.m. from the home.
Burial will be at Ebenezer Presbyterian Churchyard Cemetery.
