Loren W. Blackmon, 75, husband of Lila Follin Blackmon, surrendered all to the will of God at home on Oct. 21, 2019.

Born on Sept. 13, 1944, he was the son of the late John W. Blackmon and Kathleen Robinson Blackmon.

Mr. Blackmon graduated from Hillcrest High School and was employed by Sharp Construction Co. of Sumter before retiring in 2008.

Surviving are his wife of the home; three sons, Jeff Blackmon (Amy) of Texarkana, Texas, Kevin Blackmon (Kathryn) of Ash, North Carolina, and Greg Blackmon of Cottageville; five stepchildren, Melissa McVey (Kris) of Matthews, North Carolina, David Turner (Heather), "Bubba" Robert Turner (Cindy) and Tommy Turner (Nikki), all of Sumter, and Allison Turner of Matthews; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Gwynn Blackmon (Janet) of Jacksonville, Florida; one sister, Janice Setzer (Danny) of Lexington; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Amanda Blackmon Heitkamp, and a brother, John Hiram Blackmon.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. John Corbett officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Prisma Hospice for their loving care and service for Mr. Blackmon.
