LOUIS K. SMITH

Louis K. Smith, 88, widower of Helen "Drue" Smith, died on Monday, Oct. 26, 2020, at Prisma Heath Richland Hospital in Columbia.

Born on Sept. 6, 1932, in Sampson County, North Carolina, he was a son of the late Gurney T. and Lillian Warren Smith. He was a member of Northside Memorial Baptist Church and also attended Southside Baptist Church. Mr. Smith loved God and his family. He retired as an inspector for the USDA. He was an avid fisherman and a standout basketball player in high school. He was a Mason.

Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Yates (Michael) of Sumter; a granddaughter, Erin Yates of Charleston; a brother, Linwood B. Smith of Dunn, North Carolina; a special nephew, Keith Smith; and a number of other nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Landis W. Smith.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery with the Rev. Jimmy Holley officiating.

Attendees are asked to observe recommended COVID-19 guidelines.

The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside and other times at the home of his daughter and son-in-law.
