Loyd Andrew "Andy" Young Jr., 66, died on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2020, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, after a short battle with cancer.

Born on Sept. 20, 1954, in Norman, Oklahoma, he was a son of the late Loyd Andrew Young and Betty Moore Young. He was educated in Sumter and was of the Baptist faith. He was a longtime manager of Adam's Party Shop/Our Place, member of the Sumter Elks Lodge, and honorary member of the Elks Ladies Auxiliary. Andy had a warm and loving personality and always enjoyed making people laugh. He was a fun-loving, outgoing and selfless person with a tender soul who never met a stranger. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Andy is survived by siblings, Tommy Childers (Annette), John Childers (Helen), Brenda Ard (Jody), Ralph Young (Cindy) and Debbie Sisson (Bobby), all of Sumter; a number of nieces and nephews; and his family at Palmetto Towers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Childers; and a sister, Shirley Hair (Tommy).

Due to COVID-19, the family will have a private gathering.
