Lula Mae Major Price, age 65, transitioned to heaven on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018, at Palmetto Health Tuomey.
She was born on March 22, 1953, to the late Charles and Louise Major. Lula was educated in the public schools of Sumter County. She continued her education at Central Carolina (formerly Sumter Area Technical College) and Morris College, majoring in business administration. She was a certified nursing assistant and worked for Asera Care Services in Decatur, Georgia, for many years. Lula returned to Sumter in January 2016, where she rededicated her life to God at Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church and became a committed member. She faithfully attended Bible study, she served in the children's ministry and she also served in the House of Hope ministry. Lula would often say that the children reminded her of her grandbabies in Atlanta. She also said that she "found great joy helping other people."
She leaves to cherish her fond memories: her daughter, Pamela A. Major of Lithonia, Georgia; her son, Aaron T. Price of Austell, Georgia; three sisters, Pastor Carolyn D. Miller of Spring Lake, North Carolina, Alberta Major of Sumter and Vanessa E. (Jerry) Harper of Snellville, Georgia; two brothers, Edward (Pearl) Major of Charlotte, North Carolina, and John C. Major of Sumter; three granddaughters; five grandsons; 13 great-grandchildren; a very special and loving cousin, Betty Graham; and a host of other family and friends.
