Lynwood was born on May 25, 1935, to the late Dorthea Fruendt Behney and Russell Behney in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Lynwood served our country in the U.S. Air Force for more than 20 years, working his way to the rank of master sergeant, along with earning a variety of badges of honor before retiring in 1977. After retiring from the Air Force, Lynwood continued working on Shaw Air Force Base in the capacity of civil service for more than 20 more years as well. Outside of his service to his country, Lynwood was a Master Mason for more than 53 years. Lynwood was affiliated with Hillcrest Lodge No. 397 and held every office in the lodge and was elected as Worshipful Master in December 1992. Lynwood was also a member of Sumter York Rite and Beuclare Chapter 20 Order of Eastern Star.

Lynwood was a family man at heart and is survived by his wife of 64 years, Rosalie Behney; his two sons, David Behney (Judy) and Timothy Behney (Yvonne); five grandchildren, Steven (Amy), Heather, Amanda, Rachel and Tammy (Kathy); five great-grandchildren; and a beloved cousin, Susan Reiss.

Lynwood was preceded in death by his two brothers, Robert and Martin Behney; his daughter, Deborah Behney Cox; and two grandchildren, Lynwood Cox and Maryann Cox.

Lynwood's battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges. Despite the pain, Lynwood came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.
