Sumter police charged a man on Thursday in connection to an armed robbery on Sept. 13 at a Family Dollar on Liberty Street.
Jeremy Dwight Sealey, 27, of Sumter, was charged with armed robbery and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, according to Tonyia McGirt, public information officer for the Sumter Police Department. He was also charged with second-degree domestic violence in an unrelated incident.
According to initial reports, the robber entered the Family Dollar at 674 W. Liberty St. about 9:15 p.m., demanded money and instructed two store employees to lie on the floor as he fled on foot. Surveillance cameras captured the armed robbery.
