Margarett Gertrude Henderson, 90, widow of William H. Henderson, died on Friday, Sept. 24, 2021.

Born on Oct. 5, 1930, in Sumter County, she was a daughter of the late Horace Donnie and Ruth Gertrude Carroll Hodge. She graduated from Edmunds High School in 1948. Margarett was a member of Crossroads Bible Fellowship Church in Manning. She was an active member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 6. She served as state president and past department president. She loved working and supporting Girl State and the Legion baseball team. She served as a Girl Scout Troop leader and was a longtime volunteer with Dorn VA Medical Center.

She is survived by two sons, George Brunson III (Mary) of Summerville and William Brunson (Jackie) of Sumter; a brother, Howard Hodge (Jodie) of Great Falls; five grandchildren, Kristina Rhodes of Summerville, George Brunson IV (Tabitha) of Summerville, Joseph Brunson (Pebbles) of Summerville, Brandy Self (Russell) of Sumter and William Brunson Jr. (Angela) of Sumter; many great-grandchildren and beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Donnie Lou Hodges, Gwendolyn Hammell and Ruth Chaumont; and brother, Horace "Tom" Hodge.

A celebration of life service is planned for 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9, at Crossroads Bible Fellowship Church in Manning.
