Marie Anderson Hodge, 71, wife of Daulton Curtis Hodge Jr. for 50 years, passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2021, at her home.

Born on Dec. 11, 1949, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Edward Bissel Anderson Jr. and Dorothy Jane Heckel Anderson. She graduated from Edmunds High School in 1968 and went on to work for the Federal Bureau of Investigations and the Sumter Police Department for more than 40 years, where she spent time as a victim's advocate and fingerprint examiner. Marie was a member of the Boykin Spaniel Society, Manchester Trail Riders Club, and volunteered with Sumter Crimestoppers, becoming an officer in each. In her early years, she spent many nights at the bowling alley enjoying time spent with friends while competing in the league. She recently received the Julia Horner Award from the Boykin Spaniel Society in appreciation for her tremendous service to the organization and others through the years. She loved spending time with family and friends, but her greatest joy was her grandchildren and her dogs.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four sons, Curtis Edward Hodge (Amanda), Daulton Cayce Hodge (Glenda), Christopher Corey Hodge (Christina Mease) and James DeLorme; and seven grandchildren, Bryson Hodge, Mason Hodge, Cade Hodge, Morgan Hodge, Noah Ford, Luke Iski and Ryan Iski, all of Sumter. She has two surviving sisters, Elaine Hynes (Robert) and Katie Morte (Bob), along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, David Shaw.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, one hour prior to the service, at Bullock Funeral Home and other times at the home.
