MARIE GREENE

Marie Greene, 87, widow of Leroy "Sump" Greene, was born on Dec. 15, 1932, in Clarendon County, a daughter of the late Gee and Edna Murray Graham. She departed this life on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2020, at her residence.

She attended and graduated Stonehill and Lincoln High School. She retired from 20 years of dedicated service at Campbell Soup. Marie was a faithful member of Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church. She served tirelessly as a member of many capacities such as class two, the sanctuary choir, mass choir, women's missionary society, stewardess board three, culinary committee and pastor's aide ministry. Marie was also a member of the Eastern Star St. Paul Lodge.

She leaves to cherish her memory: two sons, Roland (Debra) and John "Tubby" (Tasha Gardner); grandchildren, Amber Greene, Sherry Jones, Latoya Greene and Meiko Peoples; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Gardenia Myers and Mary Weeks; two special caregivers, Kee-Kee Vaughn and Hospice Nurse Karen Yates; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Mrs. Greene was preceded in death by a son, Leroy; a great-grandson, Elijal Washington; and two nieces, Dynia Westbrook and Tammy Graham

Public viewing will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Job's Mortuary.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Hillside Memorial Park, 2561 Cains Mill Road, Sumter, SC 29154 with Pastor Laddie Howard.

The family will receive friends at the home, 19 Sims St., Sumter, SC 29150.

Job's Mortuary Inc., 312 S. Main St., Sumter, is in charge of arrangements.
