Marilyn F. Jenkins, 62, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, in Brooklyn, New York.
Born on Aug. 8, 1956, in Rembert, she was a daughter of the late James Jenkins Sr. and Marie Johnson Jenkins. She was the oldest of three children. As a young child, Marilyn and her family moved to Brooklyn, where she later graduated from high school. She had a career of more than 30 years as a faithful and dedicated officer with the New York City Department of Corrections.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her son, LaJuan Jenkins of Camden; her brother, James Jenkins of Rembert; two grandchildren, Saasha Jenkins of Elgin and Christian Newman of Lugoff; her stepmother, Julia Jenkins of Rembert; three stepbrothers, Charles Wilson of Rembert, Richard Wilson of Yemassee and Leon Wilson of Minnesota; eight aunts; two uncles; a host of cousins and friends.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the home of her brother, James Jenkins, 6295 Black River Road, Rembert.
Homegoing services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at Union Baptist Church, 5840 Spring Hill Road, Rembert, with the Rev. Walter Robertson III, pastor, and the Rev. Willie D. Dennis, eulogist.
The remains will be placed in the church at noon for viewing until time of services.
The funeral procession will leave at 12:20 p.m. from the home.
Burial will be at Union Baptist Churchyard Cemetery, Rembert.
