MARION LEONARD

Marion Leonard, 87, was born on Aug. 15, 1932, in Silver, a son of the late Ferdinand and Ida Leonard. He departed this life on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2020, at Prisma Health Richland Hospital, Columbia.

Marion devoted his life to the Lord at an early age and joined Friendship AME Church in Sliver. Later, he moved to Ossining, New York, and there he joined St. Matthew Methodist Church. While living in Ossining, he worked at Hudson Wire and Sing Sing Prison as a special assignment officer, until he retired. Marion was married to the late Ann E. Tindal Leonard.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his children, Vanessa (Wayne) Croom of Wedgefield, Angela (Aaron) Scott of Gadsden and Cynthia Leonard of Sumter; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; three sisters, Mary Ann Dickerson of Charleston, West Virginia, and Harriet Ragin and Dorothy (the Rev. Julius) Ragin of Pinewood; three brothers, Ivan (Dianne) Leonard of Franklin, Virginia, Robert Leonard of Sumter and Ferdinand Leonard Jr. of Stanford, Connecticut; one god grandson, Eric (Felica) Scott; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home, 670 Adger Lane, Sumter.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday at Taw Caw Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 1130 Granby Lane, Summerton, with the Rev. Dr. William T. Johnson, pastor, officiating.

The procession will leave at 2 p.m. from the home.
