Marion Thomas, widower of Annie Mae Shaw-Thomas, departed this life on Monday, Nov. 11, 2019, at the wonderful and blessed age of 96.

He was born on July 15, 1943, in Lee County, to the late Edward Butler and Winnie Herriot Thomas. He was educated in the public schools of Lee County. In 1943, he moved to New Jersey and returned back to Lee County in 1960. Throughout his life he had various jobs. He was a hard worker and a great provider for his family. Mr. Thomas was full of wisdom and he shared it with his family.

He leaves to cherish his memories: two sons, retired Staff Sgt. Elder Charles (Alice) Thomas of Dalzell and Sgt. 1st Class Frank (Sarah) Thomas of Camden; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one son-in-law; three sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, special cousins, other relatives and friends.

The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home, 5704 Red Hill Road, Camden.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Olive AME Church, 2738 Woodrow Road (S.C. 441), Woodrow, with the Rev. Dr. Ralph L. Brown, pastor, eulogist.

The remains will be placed in the church at 12:30 p.m.

The funeral procession will leave at 12:50 p.m. from the home.

Burial will be at Cooksfield Cemetery, JD Herriot Road, Dalzell.
