Mary Fields Wadford, 85, widow of Claude Harvin "C.H." Wadford Jr., died on Thursday, June 20, 2019, at Covenant Place.

Born on July 13, 1933, in Lee County, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Annie Parnell Fields. She was formerly a member of Southside Baptist Church and currently a member of Wise Drive Baptist Church. She retired from Santee Print Works.

Survivors include four children, Stanley Wadford (Brenda) of Jacksonville, Florida, Anne Tyler (Kent) and Lynn Atkinson (Thomas), both of Sumter, and Gail Burke (Jimmy) of Lexington; eight grandchildren, Julie Schilling (Will), Jennifer Edge (Lee), Marianne Crawshaw (Chris), April Dukes (Warren), Amy Atkinson, Brian Atkinson, Kayla Williams (Chad) and Jeb Burke (Christina); seven great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Kadee, Kenshin, Kalli, Annie, Ellena and Cam; two sisters, Miriam Fields of Bessemer City, North Carolina, and Louise Kinlaw (John) of Bishopville; and a brother, Theron Fields (Rachel) of Lynchburg.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Dearld Sterling officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of Lynn and Thomas Atkinson, 390 Planters Drive, Sumter.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to her caregivers, Christine Kelley and Logretta Thomas, and the staff of Covenant Place for all of their loving care and compassion.
