MARY JANE BELSER BOATWRIGHT

Mary Jane Belser Boatwright was born on July 28, 1951, in Clarendon County, to the late Sam David Belser and Susan Montgomery Belser. She departed this life on Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2021, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital. She was the widow of Edmond Boatwright Sr.

Affectionately known as "Miss B," she attended the public schools of Clarendon County. At an early age, she joined Mt. Chapel Baptist Church and later became a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. She was self-employed as a private care assistant.

Left to cherish precious memories are two daughters, Janet Belser of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Vertina (Timothy) Dinkins of Sumter; four stepdaughters,

Anna Benjamin, Daisy (Alfred) Pearson, Runnette (Buster) Eady of Sumter and Gloria (Robert) Lucas of Columbus, Ohio; three stepsons, Edmond (Lillian) Boatwright Jr. of Manning, James (Aleashia) Boatwright and George ( Audrey) Boatwright of Sumter; two brothers, Booker T. Belser of Davis Station and James (Lois) Parker of Charlotte; one sister, Rosa Childs of Florida; numerous grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three godchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Terrance Boatwright; a grandson, Devontaye; a stepson, Clyde Boatwright; a sister, Laura Johnson; and brother, Charlie Belser.

Public viewing will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. today at Sumter Funeral Service.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, 705 W. Huggins St., Manning, with the Rev. Dr. Sam W. Whack, pastor, officiating.
