Mary Louise Wactor, "Lou," as she was affectionately called," was born on Jan. 6, 1965, in Sumter County, to the late Joseph Wactor Sr. and Rosa Lee Jenkins Wactor. She departed this life on Friday, May 14, 2021, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, Sumter.

She was a member of Mt. Olive AME Church, Woodrow. Lou received her education in the public schools of Sumter County. She was a graduate of Sumter High School Class of 1983. She was employed with the Youth Summer Programs and received training from the Vocational Rehabilitation Department before she was unable to work. Lou would always have a lot of people around her. Her house was like the neighborhood air b and b. Whether it was the grandchildren, family members, friends or even her son's friends, everybody wanted to hang out at her house. Her house was like home away from home or if you had no place else to go, Lou would make room to make sure you had a roof over your head for as long as you needed it. You were welcomed.

Her loving memory will be cherished by her mother, Rosa Lee Jenkins Wactor; two sons, Kendell (Sandy) and Tyrell (Tamara) Wactor; two brothers, Joseph Jr. and Ernest Wactor; two sisters, Betty Wactor and Teresa Mack, both of Sumter; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; four aunts, Eartha Mae Smoot, Shirley Wactor of Sumter, Eartha Wactor of Bishopville and Jeanette Jenkins of Sumter; three uncles, James "Pete," William "Slim" and James Jenkins of Sumter; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

In accordance with COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitations at the home, 611 E. Liberty St., Lot 29, Sumter.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home Inc. with the Rev. Dr. Ralph L. Brown, pastor of Mt. Olive AME Church, Woodrow, officiating.

The procession will leave at 10:30 a.m. from 27 Pine St., Sumter.

Burial will be at Colclough Cemetery, Dubose Siding Road, Sumter.
