MARY PRESSLEY JACKSON

Mary Pressley Jackson, 89, departed this earthly life on Saturday morning, Jan. 5, 2019, at her home in Sumter.

Born on March 8, 1929, in Dalzell, she was a daughter of the late Louie and Lillie Jackson Pressley. At an early age, she joined St. Mark Four Bridge Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully as a member of the Sunday School, Missionary Society, gospel choir and pastor aide. "Mackey," as she was affectionately known, was educated in the public schools of Sumter County. She was employed at Sumter Laundry and Cleaners and Shoney's Restaurant, until she retired.

Mary leaves to cherish her memories: two daughters, Earnestine (Lucious) Pringle of Sumter and Bernice (George) Rembert of Dalzell; three sons, John Jackson of the home, and James (Thomasena) Jackson and Robert L. (Maxine) Jackson, both of Sumter; one sister, Lillie M. White of Sumter; one daughter-in-law, Ruby Dow Pressley of Sumter; 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 3 to 9 p.m. at the home, 2280 October Circle, Sumter.

Celebration of Life services will be held at noon on Friday at St. Mark Four Bridges Missionary Baptist Church, 2280 Four Bridges Road, Sumter, with the Rev. Sammie D. Simmons, pastor, eulogist.

The remains will be placed in the church at 11 a.m.

The funeral procession will leave at 11:20 a.m. from the home.

Burial will be at St. Mark Four Bridges Missionary Baptist Churchyard Cemetery.
