MARY PRINCE BENJAMIN

MAYESVILLE - Mary Prince Benjamin was born Jan. 18, 1923, in Clarendon County, to the late Thaddeus Prince and Elsie Benjamin. She departed this life on Friday, Sept. 13, 2019, at MUSC Carolinas Health Hospital in Florence.

Mary P. leaves to cherish her precious memories: one daughter, Shirley Ann Wilson; one granddaughter, Shyrle M.L. Benjamin; two great-grandchildren, Daurrion Kelly and Junes T. Benjamin; two brothers, Eddie Lee Harvin and John (Ray) Harvin; a sister-in-law, Susan Harvin; a special nephew, Thomas Benjamin; a host of nieces and grandnieces, nephews and grandnephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Wallace Prince, Spencer Prince, James Prince and Junious Harvin; four sisters, Lou Ida Mitchell, Fannie Lou Davis, Willie Mae Washington and Geneva Polk.

The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. on Saturday for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Church of God by Faith, 609 Atlantic Ave., Sumter, with Elder James Gibbs officiating and Pastor Linda Speed, eulogist. Interment will be at Goodwill Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the home of her niece, Pastor Linda Speed, 1610 Reedroman Road, Sumter SC 29153.
