MARY S. BARNO ROBINSON

Posted

Mary Sanders Barno Robinson was born on Nov. 13, 1950, in New Zion, to Jeremiah and Elizabeth Felder Barno. She departed this life on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019, in the comfort of her home.

Her parents moved to Sumter when she was three years old. She was educated in the public schools of Sumter County and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1969. Mary knew that work was important so she became employed at Vocational Rehabilitation Center and Regional Transit Authority (RTA) for a period of time. She continued to work other parttime jobs as a private sitter, cashier and custodian. Mary was a woman of God. She was a member of St. Michael Baptist for many years and later moved her membership to First Baptist Church in Sardinia, where she served faithfully for 37 years.

Mary was united in holy matrimony to Bobby G. Robinson on Sept. 18, 1972, and from this union, four children were born: two girls and two boys.

Mary leaves to cherish her memories: a loving husband, Bobby; children, Michael (Tyesha) and Kelvin (Raelyn), both of Fountain Inn, and Tenicka and Deidra Robinson, both of Sumter; six grandchildren whom she adored, Che'quana and Tyquan McCray, Stephanie Burgess, Simiktra Robinson, Kurena McFadden, all of Sumter, and Kamadreay Robinson of Asheville, North Carolina; three great-grandchildren, Carson and Collin Bell and De'Mari Tindal, all of Sumter; loving parents, Jeremiah and Elizabeth Barno of Eastern, Pennsylvania; sisters, Lille (Henry) Bradley of Sumter and Delores (Rodney) Marshall of Fayetteville, North Carolina; three brothers, Gerald, Gary and Isaiah Barno, all of Eastern; two sisters-in-law, Mary Alice Robinson and Sarah Greg of Sumter; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Lizzie Mae Fleming.

Public viewing will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Job's Mortuary.

She will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. on Saturday for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at First Baptist Church, 4183 Black River Road, Sardinia, SC 29051 with the Rev. Moses Dingle officiating and Moderator Leroy McElveen, eulogist. Interment will follow at First Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the home, 114 E. Bee St., Sumter, SC 29150.
