MANNING - McLeod Health Clarendon has announced its 2021 Nurse of the Year and 2021 Support Person of the Year.

Jessica Weinberg earned the 2021 Nurse of the Year honors while Yvonne McFadden earned the 2021 Emergency Department Support Person of the Year.

"Nurses and nursing staff are an essential part of the health care team and play a vital role in providing an excellent patient care experience," said Kim Jolly, chief nursing officer of MHC. "These women truly exemplify the four core values of McLeod Health - the Value of Caring, the Value of the Person, the Value of Quality and the Value of Integrity - as well as our mission of improving the health and well-being of patients in our region."

Weinberg and McFadden were chosen by their peers.

All MHC staff nurses were asked to nominate a fellow nurse who provides quality, compassionate care while personifying true faithfulness to their profession. Weinberg and McFadden were recognized during a special ceremony.

The recognition was part of National Nurses Week that is held annually during the week of Florence Nightingale's birthday, May 12. Nightingale was the founder of nursing as a modern profession.
