McLeod Hospice to offer volunteer training to Sumter, Clarendon counties

Posted

McLeod Hospice will offer a new Hospice Volunteering 101 class on Wednesday, Nov. 13, for those interested in helping hospice patients and assisting the hospice support staff in Clarendon and Sumter counties, according to a news release.

Volunteers in any line of work play a vital role, and McLeod Hospice understands and appreciates the help volunteers provide.

McLeod Hospice volunteers may make deliveries to patients' homes or provide companionship by visiting patients in their homes. Volunteers may also read a book, sing or provide additional support for the patient's caregivers.

A life-limiting illness can be devastating. McLeod Hospice is looking for volunteers who can provide patients and their families with a strong, solid support system.

Extending a helping hand can go a long way as a hospice volunteer. Volunteering can make a difference in someone's life.

The volunteer training program will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Volunteer Services Office on McLeod Health Clarendon campus, 10 E. Hospital St., Manning. Attendees must register in advance if they plan to participate in the training.

For more information or to register, call Stacy Mosier, volunteer coordinator for McLeod Hospice, at (803) 435-5287.
