Graveside services for Melvin L. Parker Jr. will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC 29229.

A public viewing will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. on Monday at the mortuary.

He was born on Feb. 13, 1984, in Sumter, to Brenda J. Taylor and Melvin Parker Sr.

He departed this life on Monday, Feb. 15, 2021, in Sumter.

He leaves to cherish his memories: a daughter, Kaylen Johnson; his mother, the Rev. Brenda J. (the Rev. Charlie) Thomas; his father, Melvin L. (Cynthia) Parker Sr.; two brothers, Donovan E. Parker and Leonard Brailsford; his grandmother, Daisy Moore; two stepbrothers, Charlie A. (Dorquila) Thomas and Akil Benjamin; a stepsister, Ashley Benjamin; a special friend, Shonda Rush; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the family will not be receiving visitors. Prayers for the family are appreciated.
