Metal cable strung across trail in Indianapolis may have been trap

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Officials say a metal cable found strung about neck-height across a trail in Indianapolis may have been put there as a booby trap.

TV station WRTV reports word of the cable was posted this week on an internet site and the station contacted the city's parks department, which removed it. The cable was found on a small trail off Pleasant Run Trail on the city's east side that's used by runners and bike riders.

Indy Parks spokeswoman Ronnetta Spalding says the department wants to "make sure safety is our top priority along the trails and in our parks."
