MICHAEL A. BUDDEN

BRONX, N.Y. -- Michael Allen Budden, 45, died Aug. 14, 2005, at his residence.

Born Aug. 12, 1960, in Manhattan, N.Y., he was a son of Willie Budden Jr. and the late Jimmie M. Johnson Budden. He attended and graduated from the public school system in Manhattan. At an early age, Michael joined Canaan Baptist Church and was baptized. While living in Sumter, he worked for Cooper Tools and Becton Dickinson. He continued working in various positions until his health failed.

Survivors include his father, Willie Budden Jr. of Sumter; the mother of his children, Janice Garcia of Charlottesville, Va.; three daughters, Geneva (Chris) Patten, Melissa Budden and Sabrina (Sherman) Wright, all of Charlottesville; one son, Michael Paul Budden of Bronx; five grandchildren; five brothers, James Budden of Sumter, Robert (Denise) Budden of Manhattan, Joseph Budden of Bronx, Walter Budden and Paul (Vickie) Budden, both of Queens, N.Y.; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Willie and Daisy Budden; and maternal grandparents, James and Ada Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Enon Missionary Baptist Church, 2990 Pinewood Road, Sumter, with the Rev. Stanley E. Hayes Sr., pastor, officiating, assisted by Ministers Rossi Ramsey, Lou Pitts, James Goodman and Georgia Walker. Burial will be in Cain Cemetery.

The body will be placed in the church at noon Saturday.

The family is receiving friends at the home of his father, Willie Budden Jr., 1 Van Buren St., Sumter.
