PAXVILLE - Milton "Poncho" Ortiz-Velez, 85, husband of 59 years to Maxine Cribb Ortiz-Velez, died Saturday, June 13, 2020, at Prisma Health Richland Hospital.

Born on June 5, 1935, in Lares, Puerto Rico, he was a son of the late Felix Ortiz and the late Delores Velez. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, a retired long distance truck driver, and he was of the Catholic faith.

He is survived by his wife of Paxville; four children, Alicia Minnich (Chuck) of St. Matthews, Allison Cooper of Midlothian, Virginia, Johnny Ortiz-Velez (Shea) of Sumter and Amy Corbett (Glenn) of Paxville; eight grandchildren, Kaleena, James, Brandon, Lexi, Sean, Ian, Hunter and Gracie; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Felix Acevedo (Hilda) of Puerto Rico; a sister, Dora Roman of Orlando, Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, 11904 Pleasant Hill Drive, Hemingway, with the Rev. Jim Legendre officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to any veteran's organization of one's choice.
