Mixed Sistaz United, Omega Psi Phi host back to school bash on Aug. 12

Students in Sumter School District will return to class next Tuesday, and two local organizations are making sure kids in the community are prepared for their first day of class.

Mixed Sistaz United and Omega Psi Phi Inc. are teaming up to host a Back to School Bash and Family Fun Day on Thursday, Aug. 12, at the South Sumter Park. Both organizations will give away free school supplies to families in need, and the day will also include games, food and other activities.

"We intend for the families to enjoy each other, have a nice time and get their needs meet," said Brittany Martin, founder of Mixed Sistaz United.

The park is located at 630 Sumter St., and the event starts at 5 p.m.
