Moore's future unclear after deciding to transfer

It has been almost a month since former Sumter High School basketball standout Isaih Moore announced he was entering the transfer portal after spending one year at St. John's.

It's still up in the air though as to where the 6-foot-10-inch Moore will be going. He put out a tweet on March 31 saying he had narrowed his choices to Florida and Cincinnati, according to a story posted today by Jay Markle of USA Today's Gatorwire.com. However, the tweet was removed from his account, and there has been no other reference about who he is considering.

Moore has not been reached for comment despite several telephone calls and text messages.

Moore announced his decision to enter the transfer portal on Twitter as well, doing so on March 14. He said, "I have decided that the best thing for me to do for my FUTURE is to put my name in the transfer portal."

Wherever Moore ends up going, it will be the fourth school he has attended after graduating from Sumter in 2018. He signed with College of Charleston out of high school and spent the 2018-19 season there.

He decided to leave Charleston after that one season and ended up at Pearl River Community College in Mississippi. He transferred to St. John's for the '20-21 season.

Moore played in 25 games for St. John's, which went 16-11 in the just completed season. The two games he missed were because of disciplinary reasons.

He averaged 9.2 points and 4.8 rebounds per game, which were fifth and second on the team, respectively. He shot 57.5% from the floor and connected on 39 of 51 free throws, good for 76.5%.

He did that while averaging just 17.3 minutes, which was seventh on the team.

His best outing was a double-double of 26 points and 14 rebounds against Georgetown.

Moore was a third team NJCAA All-American in his season at Pearl River. He helped lead the Wildcats to an undefeated 28-0 record and the no. 1 seed in the NJCAA Tournament before it was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. He averaged a near double-double, posting 15.9 points on 54.3 percent shooting to go along with 9.1 rebounds.

Moore played sparingly in his one season in Charleston. He played in 11 games, averaging 2.8 points and 2.1 rebounds.

Moore averaged a double-double of 18.1 points and 12.2 rebounds during his senior season at Sumter.
