Morris College in Sumter to host vaccine clinic Thursday

Morris College is again hosting a COVID-19 vaccine clinic on Thursday, May 27, at the Garrick-Boykin Human Development Center at 100 College St.

The historically Black college administered the first dose of the Moderna vaccine on April 29 and will now be administering second doses of the vaccine from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. As of state Department of Health and Environmental Control data updated most recently on May 23, 27% of residents who are aged 12 or older in Sumter County have been fully vaccinated, while 36% of South Carolinians eligible to receive the shots have been fully vaccinated.

The clinic is open to anyone who is 18 or older. All South Carolinians aged 12 and older are now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine and can schedule appointments. Currently, Pfizer is the only vaccine available to those aged 12-17. All three vaccines - Pfizer, Moderna and Janssen/J&J - are available to those aged 18 and older.
