The puppets are the stars of Sumter Little Theatre's upcoming musical "Avenue Q," which opens Thursday, May 23. From left, actors/puppeteers: Jordan Arms Torres as Rod, "a Republican investment banker with a secret"; Adrian Rios as Nicky, "a slacker who lives with Rod"; John Michael Osteen as Brian, "a laidback guy who lives with Christmas Eve"; and Jessica Keller as Christmas Eve, "a therapist who moved here from Japan." The 11 puppets and three human characters are young adults who are "just entering the real, adult world," according to director Carmela Bryan. The show, for mature audiences, runs May 23-June 8.
