New principal of Dennis Elementary School named

Lee County School District has named LaToya Boyd the principal of Dennis Elementary School.

Boyd most recently served as assistant principal at Meadowcreek Elementary School in Norcross, Georgia.

Boyd, a native of Bishopville, was named salutatorian of the Bishopville High School Class of 1996, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education from Clemson University, a Master of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education from Piedmont College in Demorest, Georgia, and an Educational Specialist degree from Georgia State University.

According to a news release from LCSD, Boyd is a results-driven, professional educator with a wealth of experience. She is viewed by her peers as an instructional leader.

She has served as assistant principal, literacy coach, early intervention program team leader and a first- and fifth-grade teacher. Boyd completed Gwinnett County Public Schools' Aspiring Principal Program in 2019.

Lee County School District Superintendent Dr. Wanda Andrews said, "We welcome Ms. LaToya Boyd to Lee County School District. I know she will do an outstanding job. She is goal-oriented, driven by results and an effective leader."
