JAMES ABRAMS

James Abrams, 66, affectionately known as "Brother," departed this life on Sunday, June 2, 2019, at Doctors Hospital, Augusta, Georgia.

Born on June 4, 1952, in Sumter County, he was a son of the late Cleveland Grant and Mary Abrams. Brother received his formal education in the public schools of Sumter County. Prior to the onset of health conditions, Brother was employed for more than 20 years with Georgia Industries for the Blind, until retirement.

He leaves to cherish his memories: a daughter, Jamie (Ramon) Newkirk; a son, William Abrams of New Jersey; three grandchildren, Nadia, Ray Jr. and Aniya; a great-grandson, Amarri, all of Sumter; his siblings, Patricia Abrams of Orange, New Jersey, Alphonso (Elizabeth) Abrams of Sumter, Charles Abrams of East Orange, New Jersey, Renee (Degny) Abrams Lopez of Elizabeth, New Jersey, Carol (Richard) Gavin, Ricky Grant, Angel (Aaron) Daniels and Ernestine (Willie) Jenkins, all of Sumter; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the home, 60 Wildberry Lane, Sumter.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday at John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home Inc., 821 N. Main St., Sumter, with the Rev. Joseph Ricks officiating, eulogist.

The procession will leave at 1:20 p.m. from the home.

Burial will be at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Dalzell.
