Officers in training visit Sumter Police Department

Posted

About 20 students spent part of the day Monday with officers at Sumter Police Department to learn more about the agency and enforcement of the law.

The students later became super sleuths when detective Amanda Snapp, a member of the forensics unit, set up a mock crime scene to demonstrate how officers respond to calls.

Students collected evidence and, with the help of K-9 Ava, located and apprehended the suspect.

They also had an opportunity to deploy a Taser at cardboard boxes.
