Opinion: Is law enforcement waiting on serious accidents to happen to be on duty?

Posted

In response to Mr. George Thompson's letter concerning speeding on McCrays Mill Road, we have the same problem on U.S. 521 South with vehicles traveling by exceeding 100 mph while racing to see who can get to wherever first. This usually occurs between the hours of 5:30 to 8 a.m. and p.m.

Law enforcement has been notified about this on more than one occasion. After the fourth call, I was told by a deputy that no one is on duty at these times. How convenient is that?

So, law enforcement, what are you waiting on? A serious accident caused by one or more of these misguided missiles possibly causing loss of some innocent person's life? If this happens, there will be something to do that you excel at: Escorting funerals.
