AIKEN – The Sumter P-15’s advanced to the third round of the American Legion baseball state playoffs with an 11-4 win over Aiken Post 26 on Thursday at Henderson Johnson Field.

Sumter won the best-of-5 series 3-1 and is now 21-8 on the season. It will face either Horry or Goose Creek in the best-of-5 third-round series. The fifth game of that series will be played today in Summerville after Horry’s 4-2 win on Thursday evened the series at 2-2.
Aiken took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. However, the P-15’s posted four runs in the second and broke the game open with a 5-run fourth that made it 9-1.
Sumter scored a run in the sixth to make it 10-1. Post 26 scored three runs in the bottom of the inning to make it 10-4. It left the bases loaded as Cody Windham on in relief and recorded a strikeout.
The P-15’s finished with 12 hits, four of them coming from Dustin Kennedy, and he had two doubles as well.
Drake Thames, Tray Yates and SB DuCom had two hits apiece. Thames had a home run and had three runs batted in and Yates had a double. Kennedy and Victor Brown both had two RBI.
Trent Frye drew three walks and scored twice. Kennedy also scored two runs.
Josh Bryant picked up the win, working 4 1/3 innings. He allowed five hits and two walks while striking out two. The run he allowed was unearned.
