The holiday shopping season is here, and The Sumter Item is kicking off with its annual holiday shopping event on Sunday.

Parade of Shops is a way to ditch the modern way of shopping online and keep gifts local and from the heart in Sumter while supporting small businesses.

From 1:30-5:30 p.m. on Nov. 14, participating businesses will have their stores decorated for Christmas, serve refreshments, give away door prizes and have one-day discounts and sales.

According to Karen Cave, Parade of Shops organizer, this fun holiday event will be a way to find unique gifts that can't be found anywhere else.

"At the Elephant Ear, you can find handmade items, such as jewelry, art, décor and gourmet baked goods, with free gift wrapping. Silverpaper is a boutique where you will find beautiful clothing, jewelry, items for your home and unique gifts. The Children's Shoppe offers beautiful children's clothing for the holiday season. Mary Ann's Deli Restaurant will be open for lunch, a great place to take a break while shopping. One Accord is a beautiful ladies' boutique downtown which offers women's clothing, jewelry, shoes, beautiful homemade artwork, décor and more. Naomi & Warner/Ages Antiques and Brubaker's Café & Bakery is your one-stop shop for unique gifts, antiques and a nice cup of coffee and delicious baked treats."
