PATRICIA HERRING PLAYER

Patricia “Pat” Herring Player, 79, widow of R. David Player, died Monday, March 17, 2025, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital. 

Born in Sumter, she was the daughter of the late Reedy Paul Herring and Mary Alice Proctor Herring.

Mrs. Player was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, where she held various offices in the church.

Surviving are three sons, Troy Player (Kim) of Pittsboro, N.C., Trent Player (Susanne) of Rock Hill, S.C., and Tregg Player (Wendy) of Fuquay-Varina, N.C.; six grandchildren, Lauren Redding (Dillon), Lexie Player (Tyler), Lindsay Henry (Joey), Josh Player (Dray), Reed Player and Logan Player (Lily); great-grandchildren, Abigail, Ellie, Kate, Ruth, Sofia, Lucy and Jack; and special cousins, Karen Barwick, Daryle Walker and Tony Walker. 

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Melanie Lynn Player.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Laura Whitt officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home.
