PAULINE ROBERSON EVANS

LYNCHBURG - Elver Pauline Roberson Evans, 93, widow of James Oscar Evans Jr., died on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2021, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born on June 17, 1927, in Florence, she was a daughter of the late James Montalion Roberson and Annie Covington Driggers Roberson. She was a member of American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit 140 in Lynchburg, and she was a member of Faith Bible Church. Born into a humble farming family from Alcolu, Pauline never gained worldly riches. She instead richly blessed all that had the privilege of knowing her. She was a strong, compassionate, faithful servant of God who never met a stranger. She lived her life without fear, knowing that this Earth was not her permanent home.

She is survived by a daughter, Marcelle Burch of Lynchburg; a daughter-in-law, Lenora Evans of Lynchburg; six grandchildren, Paula Troyer (Brian) of Lexington, Ellsworth Burch (Julie) of Hartsville, Meranda Atwater, Russ Evans (Lauren), Blake Evans and April Evans, all of Lynchburg; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Sanford Roberson (Ann) of Waynesville, North Carolina; a sister, Connie Martens (Steve) of Summerton; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Russell Evans; two brothers, Bethea Roberson and Ronald Roberson; and two sisters, Azalea Bodenheimer and Sadie Duke.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Fred Huth officiating. Burial will follow at Mayesville Black River Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Alex Troyer, B.J. Troyer, Noah Zion, Sam Zion, Worth Burch and Blanton Dickerson.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. at Stephens Funeral Home.
