PRISCILLA A. CHARLES

Evangelist Priscilla A. Charles transitioned from labor to reward on Friday, March 18, 2022, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital in Sumter.

Born on Jan. 20, 1956, to the late Frank and Carrie Byrd Pringle and was the beloved wife of the late Donald L. Charles. Priscilla accepted Christ as her personal Savior during her youth and was a member of Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church. In later years, she continued her spiritual path at New Jerusalem FBH Church and Open Fountain FBH Church, where she served faithfully in many capacities, including president of the missionary department, pastor's aide, etc. Priscilla was a graduate of Sumter High School Class of 1974. She was employed by Pioneer LTD as a saw machine operator. She had a love for children and began childcare in her home for many years, until her health declined.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her two sons, Dominick Charles and Demond (Keshia) Charles, both of Sumter; three sisters, Rovena (Johnny) Seymour, Sallie (Ulyesses) Neal and Katie (Larry) Robinson; three brothers, James Pringle, Robert (Dorine) Pringle and Vincent Byrd, all of Sumter; seven grandchildren; and a host of other relatives.

Public viewing will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. today at Sumter Funeral Service.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Salem Chapel & Heritage Center with the Rev. Willie J. Conner officiating. Burial will follow in Beulah-Haynsworth Cemetery.

Wearing of facial masks is required during visitations and services due to COVID-19.

Sumter Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
