Prisma Health, including Tuomey, stops walk-in vaccinations for remainder of the week

Prisma Health will not hold walk-in vaccinations the remainder of this week, according to a statement released Monday from Dr. Saria Saccocio, ambulatory chief medical officer and co-lead of Prisma Health vaccine task force. Two factors led to the decision, according to a news release from Prisma.
First, the delivery of the vaccine supply was changed abruptly. Instead of receiving the supply on Monday and Tuesday morning, the supply is expected to come in stages during several days this week. As of Monday morning, Prisma only received a partial supply for the Upstate and does not know the amount of the rest of the supply it will receive for the Upstate or the Midlands.
Second, the 65-69 age group showed up in overwhelming numbers Monday, and all walk-in vaccine supply for this week has been exhausted.
People who are due for their second dose — but who did not have an appointment — should now make an appointment on Prisma Health MyChart. As a reminder, the vaccination card is not an appointment.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that second doses can occur anytime between 21-42 days after the first dose. As Prisma Health receives additional vaccine supply this week, second-dose appointments will be opened that match the supply for the remainder of the week.
