Prisma Health technology executive recognized with award for leadership

Prisma Health senior vice president and chief information officer Rich Rogers has been recognized as Chief Information Officer of the Year by CharlotteCIO with an ORBIE award in the enterprise category.

The ORBIE awards honor CIOs who have demonstrated excellence in technology leadership with a focus on management effectiveness, business value created by technology innovation and engagement in industry and community endeavors, according to a news release.

"We are fortunate to have Rich lead our information and technology teams at Prisma Health, as these aspects of health care have grown tremendously over the past several years. This award is a testament to the impact he's had on our organization over the course of his career," said Clarence Sevillian, executive vice president and chief operating officer for Prisma Health. "Rich plays an instrumental role in helping us build the Prisma Health of the future, and we're grateful for his leadership."

Rogers has been CIO at Prisma Health since 2012. In this role, he is responsible for managing the information technology department, assessing current and future IT needs of the organization, overseeing strategic direction regarding operations and security issues, optimizing IT systems and improving information flow.

"It's our job to support our physicians, nurses and staff every day, and it takes a dedicated team to continually identify ways to enhance patient care through technology," Rogers said. "I'm honored to receive this award and am proud to be a part of such a dynamic team at Prisma Health."

Every year, CharlotteCIO recognizes chief information officers in seven key categories - leadership, super global, global, large enterprise, enterprise, large corporate and corporate. CharlotteCIO membership is comprised exclusively of CIOs (or equivalent executive roles) from public and private companies, government, education, health care and nonprofit organizations.
