RANDY HOWARD

Randy Howard passed away on Sunday, Sept. 19, 2021, in Asheville, North Carolina.

He was born on Jan. 12, 1968, in Sumter. He graduated from Sumter High School in 1986, where he was a standout basketball player. He graduated from Mars Hill College in Mars Hill, North Carolina, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Recreational Therapy. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. He worked in the medical field for more than 25 years and had a passion for helping others.

Randy was a loving father and was preceded in death by his daughter, Lauryn Howard; adopted father, the Rev. Horton Howard; and maternal grandparents, Deacon Otis and Thelma B. Hodge.

He is survived by his mother, Bettie H. Wilkins (Phillip) of Surfside Beach; father, Isaiah Johnson (Teresa) of Columbia; three brothers, Horton C. Howard (Hanika) of Orange Park, Florida, Travis I. Howard (Kimberly) of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, and Irick Johnson of Columbia; three nephews, Jonas, Micah and Kyeson Howard; two nieces, Iyana Grace and Neriyah Faith Howard; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. at the home of Thelma Hodge, 3065 Dwyer Road, Sumter.

A celebration of life will be held from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the same address.
