Rattlesnake spotted along Palmetto Trail Oct. 12

Posted

On Saturday, Oct. 12, the Ladies of the Palmetto Trail hiked a portion of the Wateree Passage starting at Poinsett State Park, up over Molly's Bluff, then down to Trestle No. 1 for lunch. This was seen on the spur trail leading up to the Foxville Road Trailhead about 12:30 p.m. He was camouflaged in the grassy middle part of the trail until he quietly slithered away off to the side. It's a rattlesnake, but it never rattled. Several in the hiking group had walked right past the critter before one of the other hikers spied him.
