Raymond Earl Jefferson, 55, departed this earthly life on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2019, at Prisma Health Baptist Hospital, Columbia. Born Jan. 14, 1964, in Sumter County, he was the son of Marie Keith Jefferson and the late Abraham Jefferson. He attended the public schools of Sumter County and later decided to join the Job Corps.

He accepted Christ and was a member of Willow Grove AME Church, Horatio. He was certified as a Master Brick Mason. Raymond was employed by Sanders Construction and Leroy Campbell Construction.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Carolyn Jefferson, of Sumter; his mother, Marie Jefferson, of Sumter; one daughter, Courtney Linton (Jason); three grandchildren, Samondre', Jay'Lin and Jason Jr., all of Rock Hill; one sister, Marjorie Keith of New City, New York; five brothers, Charlie Keith of Sumter, Isaac Jefferson (Katrina) of Hinesville, Georgia, James Edward Jefferson (Edna) of Dallas, Texas, and Abraham Jefferson (Elma) and James Earnest Jefferson (Hattie), both of Sumter; a brother-in-law, Willie Taylor, of Sumter; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home, 7080 Peach Orchard Road, Dalzell.

Homegoing services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Willow Grove AME Church, 8105 Sumters Landing Road, Horatio, with the Rev. Wallace Preston, pastor, eulogist.

The remains will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.

The funeral procession will leave the home at 1:20 p.m.

Burial will be in the Cooksfield Cemetery, J D Herriott Road, Dalzell.
