April 2021 Teacher of the Month

Carol Phillips - R.E. Davis College Preparatory Academy

Mrs. Carol Phillips teaches second grade at R.E. Davis College Preparatory Academy. This is her eighth year teaching at R.E. Davis. She holds a Master's degree in Elementary Reading and currently represents R.E. Davis as "Teacher of the Year" in this most unusual school year. She is a wife to Chris, a mom to Madison and Sarah, and a grandma to Nathan, Nolan and Norah-Kate. She is active in her church and LOVES NFL football. Her favorite team is the Miami Dolphins...and any team that beats Tom Brady. :)

She is beyond thrilled to be part of the R.E. Davis family. She enjoys getting to know the children and their families each year. She often says that it's exciting that she gets to teach siblings of children who have already been in her class. Every day is a new day in her classroom. She and her students learn reading, writing, math, science and social studies, but they also learn work ethic and that being kind to others is always the right thing to do. Oh, and her class motto speaks volumes about her belief of education: "Second-graders are like pineapples ... they Stand Tall, Wear a Crown, and are Sweet on the Inside."
