The Wendy's at 1085 Broad St. in Sumter has been torn down and will be rebuilt in the fast-food restaurant chain's newer, modern franchise model.
Features of the new eatery include the building being centered on the property, improved parking and altering the access points to allow for better flow, according to staff at Sumter City-County Planning Department.
Building permits have already been approved, so a timeline on reopening is based on the franchise owners.
A search of the location on Wendy's website says the branch is temporarily closed. A customer service representative did not know when it would reopen but created a report with management to inquire.
