Richard J. Bennett, 92, passed away quietly on Friday, Oct. 25, 2019, at his home in Sumter.
Mr. Bennett was born in Dansville, New York. He served his country as a member of the United States Navy Armed Guard during World War II. He was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Sumter.
Surviving are his wife of 71 years, Dorothy; his daughter, Katherine Shepard (William); and his son, James Bennett (Jody). He is also survived by nine loving grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sons, John and Joseph; and daughter-in-law, Kathryn Bennett.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 3 p.m. on Wednesday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with Father Rufino Madridejos, CRM officiating.
All friends and neighbors are invited to join the family at this time of remembrance.
