Richard Robinson Jr., 85, husband of Edna Dawson Robinson, was born on Nov. 18, 1935, in Wedgefield, a son of the late Richard Robinson Sr. and Ida Sumpter. He departed this life on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021, at his residence.

Mr. Robinson worked on Shaw AFB in Sumter for a total of 58 years. He was a family man who loved visiting his family. His greatest joy was being with his children, wife, grandchildren and especially cousins. He was best known by his family for his determination, hard work and patience, but most of all for his gentle and loving soul.

In addition to his wife, Edna, he is survived by two sons, Raymond Robinson of Tennessee and Tracey (Karen) Robinson of Elgin; three daughters, Naomi Robinson, Cathy Alston and Debbie (David) Knox; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends

In accordance with COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitation at the home, 4265 Furman Field Road, Rembert.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home Inc., 821 N. Main St., Sumter, with the Rev. Robert E. China and the Rev. Richard Addison officiating.

The procession will leave at 12:50 p.m. from the home.

Burial will be in the Wayman Chapel A.M.E. Church Yard Cemetery, 160 N. Kings Highway/261 North, Sumter.
